The Grand Hotel

Leaving the ferry, we took a carriage to the hotel. That would be a horse drawn carriage! Motorized vehicles are not allowed on the island. The mode of travel is by horse, by bicycle or your little old two feet!

They say that on Mackinac “the horse is King” but at the Grand Hotel, we were treated pretty royally! Check out our room---

Another shot showing the canopy better

The bathroom was little but I liked the big black and white tile on the floor. The hotel is from the Victorian era. I also liked the embossed name on the towels. And the in room coffeepot came with Starbucks coffee packs! I enjoyed that!

Curious to see if The Grand provided Gideon Bibles in the room I opened a nightstand drawer to find this…

That little thing that looks like a matchbook of matches, was a matchbook of little emery boards! And there was a Bible in the other drawer.

Each night we got a knock at the door for turn down service…

They gave us chocolate!! even if we said “no thank you".
