He’s a sweetie pie! He is three weeks old. He was 7.6 lbs. at birth and 9.2 lbs. at his two week check up. He is a good eater and a pretty good sleeper. He does make a lot of gurgley and groaning noises and moves his arms and legs about quite a bit.
But he is a baby, and babies do cry…
So it is a good idea to cry along with them!!
He’s also a good cuddler…
…and I don’t mind cuddling with him either!
I am in Brooklyn, New York and so very thankful for safe, though not necessarily smooth travel. (I’m thinking you just cannot get into New York smoothly.) I am also thankful for Ben being so patient to collect me at the airport at midnight when he gets up early for work. I am thankful too for Andrea and being with my daughter again. I am thankful for having bagels in Brooklyn for breakfast (ok more like brunch), there’s really nothing like them! But you know I’m just beating around the bush, don’t you because this Thankful Thursday I am ever so exceeding, abundantly, so very…

...or rather a garage mate!
The white car is a 1963 Falcon. We drove it to church for the first time a week ago and I thought it was kind of funny that two men asked if we painted our car!
Do they even look like the same shape??
This car Wally actually took as partial payment for a roof he did a number of years ago. The car is an original Colorado car, like Nellie, sold by a dealership in Colorado Springs. At the time Wally was not really interested in the car, it had a few mechanical issues. He remembers the brakes freezing up and hardly getting it home. But his brother Lewis wanted it and came out from OK and trailered it back. I’m not sure how long Lewis hung onto it. He did a few things to it and sold it to Wally’s Dad. Pop did quite a lot to tune it up and enjoyed it for a bit…even though he was really a Chevy buff. But eventually, he planned to sell it as well. In fact Pop was bringing it home from a garage where it was stored to clean it up when he went into cardiac arrest and hit a parked car in it.
Over the Fourth of July, Wally went back to OK and reroofed his Mom’s roof. Then he towed the little white Falcon back to Colorado.
Wally says it’s a “plain Jane”. But it is so-o-o clean! Wally got home with it early on the Fourth and we took it for a spin. We drove to my folk’s house…I got to drive. I could not believe how smooth and quiet it was. It cruised so nice on the highway! And check this out…

I think Wally really wanted me to sell Nellie. But we’re not. The garage is kind of tight but we’re adjusting. I want to drive Nellie. And she is really a pretty car. I get comments all the time! And the real value of the white Falcon, is the low mileage. We’ll take it to church from time to time.
The only problem now is what to name the new Falcon! Whitey? Snowball? I thought maybe Gene (Wally’s Dad’s name) or Poppy, rather than Pop. Any thoughts?
I know it is only Tuesday, so “what a week” actually refers to last week! I am still in recovery mode. Last week our church had their Vacation Bible School. No matter how much I gear myself up for it, it is always a big week…kind of a love-hate relationship. Maybe hate is too strong a word, but I never look forward to VBS. It is a lot of work and I only get more tired as the years go by. Yet it is only one week. You can do about anything for one week. Especially when you consider you get to give the gospel out each day to a large group, hand delivered to you. And while we may not know what children are impacted by that until eternity, we do get a glimpse when you are sure of those few who truly did understand and did trust Jesus as their Savior! Good stuff!
We started this year off with on-line registrations of 186, the week before we began. I believe our highest attendance day was 199…we just could not break the 200 mark! I’ve said this before, but we do have a really good VBS program.
Here is our group during the opening. It looks kind of pink…maybe I forgot the flash? The kids are intent on the penny parade, a competition all week between the girls and boys. We actually have a “money changer” each day, so the kids can turn their dimes, nickels and dollars into penny rolls. The competition is by won by weight! The pennies are given to a different missionary each year.
On this day the girls were about to win…the red bucket! We did however lose the week to the boys…for the third year in a row!!
We also have a skit in our opening. This year it was Treasure Island! Each day we have a Bible lesson (that’s when I get to teach), game time, craft or music (alternating every other day), snack and we end each day with a missionary story. This year, our new Pastor, having been a missionary in Africa for 12 years, brought lessons from the jungle with a spiritual application.
Here is my group waiting for the missionary story to begin. Our highest attendance was 70 and our lowest was 63. How grateful I was for good team leaders!! They did a great job!
We end on Sunday night with a program for Mom and Dad…and watermelon! It was a tremendous week, exhausting yet rewarding!

These are post-it note holders. I followed the instructions from Chicnscratch. She has done a lot of post it note holders and I think they are all so cute. She calls these “organizers.” They have a handy pocket on the inside and a place for a pen.
I used various paper I had on hand and my Cricut. I used the cartridges, Kate’s ABC’s and the Cricut lite, Wildlife.

The space at the bottom is to add the more narrow post it notes.I plan to put page marker post its on them, since I use those a lot. Just need to get them bought!
I did two cards with this sketch. One was for my online card class I posted here. The other is the card below. I needed a Birthday card for my brother-in-law, and when I saw the sketch I thought it was a great idea and easy to use for a masculine card.
The paper is from Cloud 9 and Stampin’ Up. The stamp set is also Stampin’ Up, “Pedaling Past”. I used a few punches, Stampin’ Up, Creative Memories and Sizzix.
It is week two of my online card class. I am enjoying the color combinations they give us each week. They have been bright and fun and not what I would come up with at all. Which is good, because I tend to choose the same kind of combos over and over again. I have also appreciated that I am using paper I have and not running to the store to buy stuff. I think I am a bit intimidated by all the stamping techniques the class is teaching. While they are great ideas, I am easily frustrated with rubber stamping. I haven’t quite stepped up to trying them, so I am pretty much using my punches and Cricut.

The cake is cut from the Cuttin’ Up cartridge and the zig-zag and candles are sizzix dies. The sentiment is a Stampin’ Up stamp. My paper is scraps I had on hand form Joann’s and Archiver’s.
